Harper Lee’s family life and schooling were quite normal, but she continued to grow up with critical thinking skills which exceled passed others. Lee had a slightly large family but was “the youngest of Frances Finch and Amasa Coleman Lee’s four children”. It shows how to Harper Lee grew up and who her parents were and her role in the family. Harper Lee was a “precocious, impertinent, and athletic girl” who aggravated her teachers. It shows how her tomboy tendencies annoyed others around her but also proves her critical thinking and seeing the wrong in standard southern customs. Harper Lee’s critical thinking skills were very helpful to her especially throughout her early schooling and later in her life when she was faced with controversy about her books.
